Contextual-appropriateness is a quality Nishant and Varun don’t lose sight of in their endeavour to seek a balance between the built mass and the unbuilt environs; local nuances and a non-conventional approach. Operating across different design disciplines, the young studio thrives on engagement with spaces, products and graphic design.

Quick Five

Failures to you are…
…a part of the day’s work at the studio.

The idea of home is…
…a minimalist space, to relax and unwind; where our design experiments are first tested.

An ideal client is the one who…
…correctly associates his aspirations to his budget.

A design nightmare that has scarily come true…
The current pandemic! Projects have opened up but we cannot travel to site to check progress and maintain quality control.

A name that came a close second to the current one while naming your practice…
Lorescape.

GIA School of Differently Abled Students (yet to break ground) in Palanpur will house workshops and ancillary learning spaces for children with special needs. The building employs a climate-sensitive planning approach and universal design principles for accessibility. It is imagined as three volumes, split with narrow wedges to provide seamless circulation. (Photographs: taken in-house)

House in Dadar started as a simple redesigning of a wardrobe, and culminated in surgical applications to other corners. Harmonious compositions of finishing ply, teakwood and rosewood lend a vintage charm to the space. (Photographs: taken in-house)

The furniture series, created as commissioned pieces for a client to display her collection of art, experiments with a play of geometry and material to achieve an object that entwines form and function.
