The brief
The Olive & Brew cafe in Bharuch designed by P&D Associates is located in a newly constructed structure giving the designers a blank canvas to create their magic. The only brief from the client for this project was to make it unique and adhere to their strict budget.

The design intent
Vintage interior design is the inspiration for this cafe — from 19th century floor lamps to mid-century chairs. No structural changes were made to the site, but huge arched shaped windows were introduced to let natural light come in. The cafe´s decor is packed with vibrant colours, fabrics, furniture and vintage furnishings to make it warm and welcoming all day and into the night.

The design and material details
Fabrics and textures play a key feature in this cafe and it is seen right from the reception desk which showcases a hand-stitched heavily ornamented Jaipur carpet. The reception is the perfect amalgamation of vintage and industrial style with batwing doors that would lead you to the restrooms. Among several eye-catching decorative details around the space one of key features is the ceiling mimicking gorgeous carpets and muted grey-painted wooden ornaments. The cafe plays between both industrial and refined styles with an exposed red brick wall, dusky green leather and vibrant colour fabrics for chairs, industrial wall light and wooden ornament detailing.
Hand-picked sofas and chairs sit on vibrant ceramic tiles laid on the entire floor enacting a soothing carpet. The lighting fixtures include a wide selection of distinctive designs from hand-forged aluminum pendants to crystal chandeliers to bespoke fringed lampshades. Planters are used as dividers at strategic locations all across the cafe.
