The site
A well-planned apartment with 4 bedrooms, living and kitchen area with designated services area.
The brief
For this project, the developers needed a straightforward, practical 4BHK interior space that reflected their philosophy and style.
The material palette
The goal was to introduce materiality through a basic manner. For this, Dhyey Chag of Dhyey Chag Architects, turned to wood, a flexible material that can “turn a work of art into a work of classic, timeless art. We chose to keep a neutral colour scheme and materials as the primary design objective,” he says. “To intensify the feeling of luxury and subtleness, we combined the tangible with the immaterial, thereby generating a range of experiences through the rule of one third.” Bare concrete, geometric shapes and stark colours form the other spatial elements. These grey expanses are beautifully textured by timber imprints with hints of soft fabric to break the rigidness, to create an environment that is beautifully poised between simplicity and richness.

The spatial flow
Being a show flat each corner of the house shall be minutely designed and executed. The pooja space is a quite warm yet colourful space with play in its ceiling. The living room is kept quite vibrant with the use of striking blue lime plastered and colourful cushions. The open kitchen has a sleek modern style. It blends in perfectly with the living areas, creating a feeling of unity and connection. Dining and kitchen spaces are kept soothing with a use of neutral colour scheme.
“The bedrooms are the most important space in any home,” points out Dhyey, “so we have given justice to every corner of each room.” The master bedrooms are designed such that while the scale of each room is enhanced, the general feeling is of cosiness, rendered through materials like wood, fabric and concrete texture. “The challenge for us was to make the kids’ room also feel mature. So we designed it with a semi-circular flute as a play element but in a wooden and neutral colour scheme with just a hint of teal blue. This way, the room can be transformed by just changing the colour.” Similarly, the idea for the guest bedroom was to treat it as a special room with solid wood and fabric adding warmth to the space and brass to get a luxurious feel.

The highlights
Every room has a tale to tell, hidden in the little details that contribute to its overall functional character and dramatic effect. The semi-circular brass work in the living room console unit represents the direction in which the sun rises, while a geometrical arrangement of the sleeping area and lounge corner creates a sense of harmony and tranquillity in the guest room. In the same vein, the master bedroom and study area aim to create a serene and well-lit atmosphere for concentration through the use of soft fabrics and lighting fixtures.
