The site
The 5BHK penthouse that had to be converted into a spacious 3BHK home.
The brief
The clients requested a hint of opulence in every corner while maintaining comfort and functionality throughout the entire house, indicating a desire for a sophisticated and luxurious yet liveable living space.
The design intent
“A standout feature of this home is its seamless integration of three key elements,” state Udit Padhiar, Rajvi Dave, Anand Banrajee and Dhruv Jasoliya of Mulled Spaces. “Interactive spaces, an abundance of natural light flooding generously throughout, and significant artfulness infusing every corner with creativity and character.”

The civil intervention
The penthouse underwent a significant transformation from a five-bedroom home to a more spacious and luxurious three-bedroom one. The conversion involved reconfiguring the layout to create larger common areas and combining some of the bedrooms to create walk-in wardrobes or dressing areas. “This redesign aimed to enhance the overall luxury and comfort of the living space, providing residents with a more opulent and refined daily living experience,” says the team.
The material palette
A combination of veneer and concrete textures creates a striking visual contrast that exudes elegance and class while adding a touch of sophistication to the entire house.
The challenges
Implementing civil changes, especially within the context of apartment construction, posed significant challenges due to various rules and restrictions. Balancing the requirements and regulations while meeting the client’s needs was a formidable tasks.

The highlights
The heart of this penthouse and the most beloved space of the client, the terrace is divided into three distinct zones, each offering a unique seating arrangement and ambience. This thoughtful layout transforms the terrace into the perfect party place for the fun-loving couple, who delight in inviting friends and family to enjoy memorable gatherings in different settings.
The takeaway
This project underscores a valuable lesson that opulence or luxury aren’t necessarily synonymous with large, grand spaces. By focusing on high-quality materials, tasteful colour combinations, and thoughtful design elements, it’s possible to create an atmosphere of luxury and opulence regardless of the size of the space. This approach highlights the importance of attention to detail and the skilful execution of design concepts.
