The site
Boasting a spacious and comfortable layout, the 4,000-sq-ft apartment is located in a luxurious gated community away from the bustling city of Faridabad. It affords panoramic views of lush green Aravali hills on three sides and is flooded with natural light, courtesy the wide sliding doors on one side of every room.
The design intent
“The apartment was transformed into a vibrant home that tells a unique story of its inhabitants,” says architect Aashima Mittal, principal architect, Lane 7. “We endeavoured towards a modern, comfortable, and elegant environment using a neutral colour palette throughout the home.” This provides a versatile backdrop that allows for individual character to shine through. Each room has its own pop of colour, carefully selected to reflect the client’s personal taste and preferences. This creates a harmonious blend of spaces that feel cohesive yet different, creating a colourful story.
The spatial flow
A curved puncture near the entrance gives a glimpse into the spacious living room. An orange sofa serves as the centrepiece of the light-flooded living with its full-height windows. The backdrop of the composition is adorned with curved mouldings, painted in a calming beige hue to match the wall and ceiling. In the dining room, a striking wall-to-wall multipurpose unit catches the eye. With light wood and black arched collapsible shutter, the cabinet reveals a crockery unit on one side and a mandir on the other. The custom-made dining table is accompanied by white onyx and pink velvet dining chairs, creating a space that effortlessly blends style and comfort.
In the master bedroom, muted pastels stimulate a sense of calmness. The attention to the detail extends from a beautifully crafted wall-to-wall pastel pink headboard to a glamorous curved sofa dressed in a gorgeous pastel green. The daughter’s bedroom features a grey velvet upholstered bed, elegantly offset by a sleek blue study table. The predominantly muted colour palette, with strategic hints of deep hues of purple, adds depth and richness while creating a welcoming space.
Continuing the journey to the son’s bedroom, the brief was simply to keep it clean and minimal. The study table is the first thing noticeable in the room, with the design elements in straight lines that come together to orchestrate a welcome stillness. Enhancing its visual appeal and contributing to the overall sophistication of the room is an L-shaped headboard of the corner bed in contrasting blue leatherette.
