Designed for a young couple by Thomas Parambil Architects, this 2,250-square-foot 3BHK apartment in Bengaluru embodies the less is more philosophy. The clients wanted a contemporary, clutter-free home with minimal elements, and pops of colour in a largely white palette.   In the foyer, a custom-designed metal console brings in a dash of red which is mimicked in the artwork hung opposite it. The heavyset wooden panel wraps itself all the way from the entrance to the kitchen, and is offset by light furniture pieces and lucid white paint. The design team introduced layering through brick walls (which form the backdrop for the console and the living room setting), textured rugs and brass inserts running across the ceiling. The kitchen-cum-dining space is an interactive, functional zone with ample seating as the couple loves to cook and host. Grey storage cabinets, wooden breakfast-cum-bar counter and a custom-made black dining table with suede pink chairs make this section the party central.

The master bedroom overlooks a waterbody and exudes an understated tropical vibe with its wallpaper and colour scheme. To cut the bulk, the design team rendered a seamless look starting from the study desk to the side table, to the bed. Even the wooden flooring merges with the fixed bed to keep the continuity intact. Taking a detour from white, the converted study room is painted a shade of terracotta on the accent wall and features wooden wardrobe and flooring. The room allows the couple to work from the desk, the floor and the pullout bed. A set of framed motivational quotes line up a shelf here, the only decor accessory here.

The guest bedroom accommodates a floating wardrobe and bottom unit which gives it a spacious look, while the painting and headboard infuse colour into this grey-white room. Throughout the home, the architects have used lighting from White Teak and rugs from Carpet Kingdom to enhance the look and feel of this contemporary home.
