The site and brief
Blending the timelessness of the classical style with the clean integrity of the modern look, the K- Houze located in Cochin, Kerala, is both graceful and charismatic. It is fresh, unique and simple yet elegant. The brief from the client was to create a timeless and serene interior. Spreading across the two floors of a lake-facing apartment, the 4BHK K-Houze exudes warmth, opulence and is a perfect reflection of its owners.

The spatial flow
As one steps into the house, the foyer leads to a huge, gentle and refreshing living-dining space which is the heart of the house. The formal and informal sections of the living room are segmented by the corridor. This expansive space is designed in such a way that it brings in maximum natural light and the stunning water views. The informal living extends to a cosy dining space, where a custom-designed dining table made of 50-year-old rosewood from the client’s ancestral property, occupies pride of place .A long balcony with wooden flooring in front of the living dining area creates a feeling of openness and infinity.
The colour scheme
The art throughout the home adds not only warmth, but soul too. A neutral colour palette renders a warm and cosy interior. This intimate scheme is balanced with natural teakwood finish and baby blue fabrics. The furniture is in minimal classical style and upholstered in neutral colour tones. The subtlety of the architectural finishes allows the furniture to take centrestage. The guest and master bedroom also follow the same design style, while the other two bedrooms (children’s spaces) incorporate a bit of bold colours like dark grey and blue. The accessories used in the interior are collected by the client from across the world from their travels.
Dressed in minimal classical style with bits of Victorian touch, the K-Houze is a perfect amalgamation of modernity and vintage. Together with this, the entire house possesses tranquillity and timelessness as the client desired.
