The site and the civil intervention
“We were given this space as a 4BHK apartment, but the family’s needs were such that they did not require all the bedrooms,” reveals Jayesh Mistry while talking about the design journey of transforming this apartment into a home for a home of three in Ahmedabad. “Therefore, we turned one bedroom into the master bedroom’s walk-in wardrobe.”
The brief
The clients, a middle-aged couple and their daughter, envisioned their dream home as one with modern interiors. “Trusting our experience, they gave us a free hand while designing. The specifics were left on our creative team to curate a space that would transform a house into a home, a unique environment that was welcoming and comforting at the same time.”
The spatial flow
The entrance lobby, defined in vibrant blue and red, houses a bespoke console that is handy to store essentials in a systemic manner. The entrance passage leads to a formal living area neatly partitioned by a custom-designed wooden grill. The living room space is lively and modern with customised seating, showcases and a central table. A leather sofa designed along the lines of a divan dominates this congregational space. Nearby is the seamless expanse of the family seating, dining and kitchen. The first is the heart of the house, and accommodated a rust pink sofa facing the TV Cabinet, storage and display unit. Here, the family indulges in some me-time by lounging together and taking informal meals.

Dressed in subtle pink and peach tones, the well-planned kitchen features materials such as granite, wood, and back-painted glass. The kitchen island platform sequel into the dining table, both of which are well-lit with five custom-made brass-finish hanging lights. The USP of this unit is the adjacent balcony, providing a serene space to relax on the custom-designed rocking chair made of wood and leather.

The guest bedroom combines soothing and contrasting tones of pastel green, dark grey, light grey, and essential white hints. Wood, veneer, faux leather, PU colours, brass and fabrics deliver an elegant, comfortable room to provide comfort. The design and concept of the daughter’s room plays with lines, curves and soft corners. The overall bedroom is set with a soft tone, light blue as the dominant foreground. The headboard is a combination of genuine and faux leather. The brass made side table follows the blue tone. The master bedroom features a panel behind the bed, cladded with top-quality veneer and limocoat. The wood is complemented with delicate grid lines, with a C-shaped brass elements that operate as a buffer between solid wood and leather.

The material palette
The selection balances luxurious Italian marble at one end and striking Limocoat textures on the other. Brass, wood, veneer, leather (genuine and faux), glass and granite appear strategically, creating a stylish yet pragmatic environment ably supported by plants, sculptures and paintings.

The highlights
The divan, designed along those found in the Middle East, is a bespoke creation that occupies pride of place in formal living room. Besides this, smaller custom-made creations — such as the integrated hanger and accessories stands created for the master and daughter’s bedrooms — speak of the design team’s enthusiasm for crafting impeccably tailored narratives for their clients.
