To many, Ramamrutham’s oeuvre exemplifies the definitive pictorial statement on Indian architecture, design and the Indian landscape. His emphatic focus on light and space, paired with the eagle-eye of an experienced architect, helps him capture not only the structure of buildings, but also the spirit, body, and soul of both traditional and modern Indian architecture. A stream of books, monographs and contributions to publications around the world have assured the prolific photographer a place of eminence in this field.

“Photography is light. It lives at the edge of miracles and magic,” he says. “If more people could learn to see this light with their hearts and minds, transcending what they merely observe with their eyes, it could not only change them, but also, using its infinite power, they could reimagine the world.”

Bharath Ramamrutham commenced professional photography in 1988.
