The site
The owner of Ahmedabad-based jewellery brand Tamraa — well-known for their traditional jewellery — commissioned Amogh Designs to convert the living room of her home into a jewellery studio.
The brief
The client wanted Amogh Designs to create a grand entrance, a patio, an elegant waiting area, a main studio with display cabinets, a verandah with a sit-out for hosting customers and a cabin. The brief also required the design team to incorporate a jaipuri decor theme for the studio to complement the jewels. But the most exciting and challenging part of the brief was to complete the project in a short span of three weeks.

Keeping in mind the budget, the walls of Tamraa uses customised wallpaper.
The design intent
Amogh Designs believes that each space is unique in itself and requires a holistic approach as it reflects the character of its occupants and functions held there. And for Tamraa they devised a modernistic approach with traditional touches.
The design and material details
An enchanting combination of granite and Moroccan tile flooring greets you at the frontyard. Down the alley, as you move towards the cosy verandah, a vibrant indigo portal with a cosy sit-out awaits. At the entrance of the studio a majestic elephant sculpture featuring lotus pichwai painting welcomes you. Just before you enter main area, a beautiful wood engraved partition is introduced to elevate the elementality of the space.

Keeping in mind the budget, the walls of the studio are not hand-painted but uses customised wallpaper in vibrant hues. In the centre, an antique carved wooden desk with vintage wood and metal brocade chairs personifies the beauty of the space. On the left wall, two glass cabinets with carved wooden frames display jewellery. To make the space look larger, a mirror with moulded edges stands at the centre.
