The site
The Atcom Lighting booth at the 2023 edition of Acetech Exhibition, designed by Studio Dot, embraced a new identity — ShowTime. Departing from traditional product-centric displays, ShowTime aimed to elevate Atcom as a prominent brand, prioritizing visitor engagement and interaction.
The design intent
This year, the booth underwent an evolution from its previous edition, emphasizing foot traffic and meaningful visitor interactions. Its design elements — including volumes, circulation, voids, product placements, colours, and signage — were meticulously crafted to foster human engagement and interaction. Rather than overtly promoting products, the booth focused on fostering conversations that allowed visitors to understand the essence of Atcom. This shift prompted the studio to reflect on how to leave a lasting impression on visitors, transcend the ordinary, and make the Atcom booth memorable.
The design and material details
Central to this endeavour was the creation of a captivating focal point within the booth — a dark room showcasing Atcom’s star products, complemented by a whimsical twist behind a red velvet curtain. This transformative space, doubling as a photo studio, served as both an icebreaker and a memorable takeaway for visitors.
Accompanying the photo studio were intriguing volumes and a curated product display. A central pin table delineated the circulation path, dividing the floor plan into two distinct spaces: one for sit-down discussions introducing Atcom’s brand vision, and the other showcasing an extensive array of functional and decorative lighting.
Moving forward, visitors encountered niche areas dedicated to showcasing specific lighting series — like the Surhai pendant lights and the Legend series which is specially tailored for artworks and magnetic tracks. Utilizing louvers on one edge of the kiosk, the design fostered openness and invited visitors into an immersive ambiance, ensuring a seamless visual connection with the surroundings.
Rather than fixating solely on technical specifications, the focus shifted to demonstrating the transformative impact of Atcom’s meticulously designed products. Further, Studio Dot also collaborated with artist Prityanshi to create walls with textured art… which fills the space with warmth and character.
