The project

Sunset Soirée is a 1,800 sq ft residence designed to mirror the quiet drama of dusk—moments when the sky glows in layered tones of calm and celebration. The interiors channel that same spirit through warm colours, grounded materials, and textural depth, creating a home that is at once serene and expressive.

The site

Located in Adarsh Lakefront, near Bengaluru’s bustling Ecospace district, the apartment overlooks Saul Kere Lake. Despite its urban setting, the site offers tranquil lake views—an everyday reminder of stillness that shaped both the home’s layout and mood.

The brief

The clients were drawn to the apartment for its sunset views over the lake and wanted to bring that sense of quiet spectacle indoors. Their brief sought a home that felt rooted yet modern—where earthy tones and cultural nuances could coexist with contemporary function. The design had to be timeless, warm, and deeply personal.

The design intent

Helmed by principal designers Muktha Prabhu and Rashmi Soni of Salmon Pink & Co., the home was imagined as a balance between modernity and memory. “The idea was to reflect nature’s transitions—the calm, the colour, and the celebration of everyday beauty,” say the designers. The design language merges modern silhouettes with nostalgic warmth, drawing inspiration from the family’s multi-generational values and the fluid hues of dusk.

The civil intervention

The kitchen wall was removed to open the plan, integrating the living and dining areas into one flowing, connected volume. This move enhanced natural light and visual connectivity, aligning function with the family’s social lifestyle.

The spatial flow

Entry begins at a foyer defined by a custom curved unit that provides storage while creating a graceful visual barrier between the entrance and living area. Its bold green finish and soft edges introduce the home’s personality—elegant yet welcoming.

The living room is flexible and expansive, furnished with modular seating that can reconfigure for gatherings. Earthy textures, neutral walls, and warm fabrics balance informality with style. The dining zone, conceived as an extension of the living, integrates a sleek bar and console, making it ideal for both quiet dinners and entertaining.

The open kitchen continues the home’s calm energy: sage green cabinetry, a solid teak counter on the breakfast island, a white quartz worktop, and black appliances form a crisp, harmonious palette.

A study-guest room acts as a dual-purpose space, with a bay window that frames serene lake views—a corner for reading, music, or rest. The son’s bedroom is grounded in muted tones and dark wood, while the master bedroom balances sophistication and restraint with its fluted backdrop, tactile fabrics, and muted palette of brown, beige, and black.

The material palette

Throughout the home, material and tone play off one another like light at dusk. Wood, rattan, sage green cabinetry, and black metal details lend rhythm and warmth, while upholstered furniture and textured walls soften the geometry. Brass hardware, patterned tiles, and curated artwork add subtle accents without distraction.

The challenges

Structural walls and existing flooring limited intervention, but the team turned these into opportunities by introducing custom furniture, modular planning, and textural layering. The clients’ openness to collaboration allowed design challenges to become creative breakthroughs.

The highlights

The curved green foyer unit, the seamless open-plan living-dining-kitchen, and the bay-window study overlooking the lake anchor the home’s narrative. Each corner is tactile and lived-in, embodying the balance between elegance and ease.

The takeaway

For Salmon Pink & Co., Sunset Soirée reaffirmed that calm and celebration can coexist. By interpreting the colours and cadence of dusk, the studio shaped a home that glows quietly—with emotion, material honesty, and timeless beauty.
