A free-flowing, spacious and softly vibrant space was the design brief for this 4BHK apartment in Surat which was commissioned to CK Architect & Interior Designer. The design attempts were to make the interior functionally viable and aesthetically pleasing. The decor scheme with a subdued colour and material board and a few dramatic highlights makes the interior neither too striking nor too demure.

On entering the apartment a long foyer leads to the open living-dining space with the kitchen adjacent to the dining. The bedrooms are set towards the rear end of this 2.090-square-foot space. Neutral shades and contemporary furniture (and a jhoola) dominate the living space; with a metal partition dividing it from the dining. Close to the dining setting, a circular bar shelf adds functional and aesthetic value. The kitchen supports a clean, look — it is designed in black, white and grey hues. The pooja room has a traditional touch created using tinted glass and bells.

The bedrooms showcase polyurethane colours with a combination of unique veneers and wooden flooring. The master bedroom sees moulded panelling in brass which creates an opulent ambience. The daughter’s bedroom is given a rustic look with shades of yellow and teak veneer. The son’s bedroom sees a more experimental approach with arches highlighting the openings. The room has ivory walls that are offset by veneer and furnishings in a soft blue hue.
