Colour Coded

Project Hide N Seek designed by MuseLAB is nestled in a quiet gated neighbourhood of Vikhroli in Mumbai. This apartment is an amalgamation of two 2BHK units which differed in planning and could be connected only at one point — where an existing bedroom shared a wall with the living room of the other apartment. The apartments when connected stretch the breadth of the building. The client’s brief was simple: they wanted a spacious 3BHK apartment with a study, and that the apartment should be colourful and pet-friendly.

There are two ways of entering the apartment. From the first entry, one is directly led into the L-shaped living and library space of the home. The kitchen here has been converted into the utility space of the house. The two bedrooms in this apartment have been joined to create a larger master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. Each space emerges through glimpses and framed views. The den space is the transition space between both the apartments. It is a much darker space at the heart of the home.

When one emerges onto the other side, one is enveloped in layers of forest green within the dining space. This is also where the second entry to the apartment is positioned. Here, the living space has been transformed into the sons’ bedroom with a low bed. The third bedroom is the father’s domain. Adjacent to the dining space and the third bedroom is the kitchen. The existing layout of the apartment has been divided into a series of spaces with a candy-coloured palette that is juxtaposed by warm neutral flooring.

“The different nooks and hideaway spaces within the home offer the clients convenient ways to escape and embed themselves. These spaces meld with their lifestyles and offer their pets’ also fascinating and surprising ways to play “hide n seek” and uncover new experiences,” says Huzefa Rangwala and Jasem Pirani, principal architects, MuseLAB.
