Aslam.Sham Architects’ endeavour is to not follow a signature style, rather they strive hard to absorb the client’s dream and implement it in the best way possible. This philosophy is reflected in their projects which sees a diversity of styles ranging from classic to ethnic to contemporary and rustic.
QUICK FIVE
What prompted you to go solo?
We wanted to tell our own story instead of narrating someone else’s tale… that is the only way you can truly express yourself in design.
Your advice to younger architects or peers who are contemplating going independent…
Go for it if you are sure about it and want to do it for the pleasure of it and not for the results. If you can enjoy the process, you wouldn’t mind slogging it out till you get results. But if you’re in it only for the results, you might get disheartened at the hurdles, because, trust us, there are going to be plenty of them.
What was your first job, and the feeling after you completed it?
It was a house for a family of five. The client trusted us rookie architects completely and gave us full design freedom. The first time you see your wild imaginations turning into reality… the adrenaline rush and the satisfaction was on a whole different level.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
Both of us are avid travellers, movie lovers and sports fans.
A dish you both savour the most?
Biryani!
