Mehra calls himself a stream of water that keeps “flowing, flowing”. His rather circuitous route to photography — he was a reluctant commerce student and then a colour printer before finding his calling — belies the unique, effortless vision that he brings to his work. The award-winning photographer has been much lauded for seamlessly operating across commercial and ‘creative’ verticals, and being pure to both.
“To me architecture photography is not about documenting the architectural work or shooting verticals or correcting lines. It’s about putting the soul in the work of architects and making it alive.”
Amit Mehra commenced professional photography in 1990.
